Text Box: Plotted Dates – If the base map is zoomed far enough down,  then black circles appear showing the end position of 24 hour days. If the map is zoomed further down the actual ending dates are printed beside the black circle. The date shown is the date associated with the end of twenty four hours. For example, if the voyage starts on May 2, then May 2 will  appear by the circle at the end of that days track. These dates and circles are indicated on both the current and previous tracks.


6.    TROUBLESHOOTING

Base map disappears when doing zooms – This evidently occurs when a zoom is selected at the exact time that the base map is being refreshed to plot the movement of the boat. To recover the base map zoom out - then rezoom.

Simulation appears to have stopped - The time step may have been set to zero. Hit the forward button on the tool  bar or select the time control (clock face) on the toolbar.

Error 7-Out of Memory –On some 32 mb machines memory is consumed in the graphical device interface. This may limit the length of voyage to 1 – 2 months. Break up voayges into smaller segments. Let VP know if you have this error.

Simulation stops after closing Force9  - at the present time you cannot close Force9 before the simulation is concluded or a restart is made. 

Automatic Sail Trim – You may have to click the sail in or out adjustment to engage the auto trim option. 


7.    SAMPLE VOYAGE

As a sample voyage, take a voyage from the mouth of the Chesapeake Bay to the Azores. First select a new voyage in the first screen. Click Next. In the next screen select an offshore cruiser 35 feet in length. Click Next. In the next screen use the Globe Button in the Toolbar to open a window that allows a rubber box to be used to select a sub-map of the world. Use the rubber box to select an area that covers the Chesapeake and the Azores. Close this window.
